PGL League Restructure - 2015

So everyone knows what they are playing for at the end of this season!

At the end of the 2014 season promotion and relegation will be put into place. The League structure for 2015 will be arranged after the promotion and relegation places have been put in place.

1. The following structure would be put into place for 2015 if the current 53 teams play.....
DIVISION 1 - would have 10 teams. The Division would have the top 9 teams from the Senior League Division 1 at the end of the 2014 season and the winners of the Senior League Division 2 in the 2014 season.
DIVISION 2 - would have 10 teams. The 2 teams relegated from Senior League Division 1 at the end of the 2014 season, the runners up, and next 7 teams in Senior League Division 2 at the end of the 2014 season.
DIVISION 3 - would have 10 teams. The 2 teams relegated from Senior League 2 at the end of the 2014 season, the winners and runners up in Senior League Division 3 at the end of the 2014 season, and the next 6 teams in sEnior League Division 3.
DIVISION 4 - would have 11 teams. The bottom 3 teams from Senior League Division 3 and the top 8 teams in Junior League Division 1 at the end of the 2014 season.
DIVISION 5 - would have 12 teams. The 2 teams relegated from Junior League Division 1 and the 10 teams that remain in Junior League Division 2 at the end of the 2014 season.

2. The following structure would be put in place IF a team drop out from JUnior League Division 2 by the start of next season.
DIVISIONS 1, 2 and 3 would have 10 teams. The teams competing in these Leagues would be the same as is outlined above.
DIVISION 4 - would have 10 teams. The botom 3 teams from Senior League Division 3 and the top SEVEN teams in Junior League Division 1 at the end of the 2014 season.
DIVISION 5 - would have 12 teams. the bottom THREE teams from Junior League Division 1 and the remaining 9 teams in Junior League Division 2.

Any additional teams dropping out will reduce Division 5 accordingly.

It's probably been answered before Bryan but is there a condition that a senior and junior team cannot play in the same league e.g. Ballymena juniors say could only get as far as Division 2?

No such condition was agreed but something about registering a certain number of players per team was I think

It was decided that 2 teams from the one Club CAN play in the same league.. if not you go down some ridiculous scenarions if an "A" team gets relegated... could mean the second team might have to be also... even if they won their league.

Yes, some sort of restrictons will be introduced about playing for an "A" team.

When the restructure was agreed and the move to promotion and relegation through all divisions was approved, the original suggestion of teams from the same club having to operate completely separate panels was voted against. Instead it was agreed that the league sub committee would look at this further and something would be agreed in advance of the 2015 season.

The league sub committee has drafted a Notice of Motion to introduce a panel for the "A" team to name players who can only play for that team. This still has to be approved at GP Committee and will then go forward at the November AGM for approval.

Is this for all clubs or only teams in the same division

Interesting so it differs from the NIBA format. Personally I would not be keen to see 2 teams from the same club play in the same league, as due to human nature, it may well lead to questions over impartiality for big games should the situation arise.

The games between teams from the same Club would be scheduled early in the season so as little "help" could be given later on! Mind you, from my experience, most teams want to play for THEMSELVES, not to help anyone else..., so I really don't think it would be a problem. Belmont and Belmont Park, for example, both played in SEnior 1 together for several years and there was never an issue!

The scheduling aspect I guess will help to mitigate it to an extent Bryan. I am aware of the Belmont teams both playing in Senior 1, not sure if the same has ever arisen for the Ballymena teams but in those instances nobody can move between the 2 clubs. If I understand correctly while some players will be nominated others can move between the 2, hard to know until the league sub committee comes back with their notice of motion.

Happyjack the draft NoM going to GP Committee covers all clubs with 2 teams playing in the League Championships. Once agreed at GP Committee I'm sure Bryan will be posting the full Notice(s) on the forum

As I said in a previous post the original proposal of 2 teams from the same club having to operate separate panels was defeated. The concern was from clubs who could see themselves with 2 teams in division 4 or 5.

A simple solution Brian coul be to have teams, only in the top 2 divisions, have to nominate panels for each team or
have to nominate 10 or 12 players for each team....Just a thought.

It's a sensible suggestion and we did discuss it.

The current Notice is the same for each division but it could be changed at GP.
