Govner: The rules regarding the Midweek League are laid out in the IBA Book 2015 Page 106 clause 1(ii) and similarly on the new websight and which indicate that up to 8 Junior Players may play in the MW League and Cup.This was the rule that was in place last year that has not been changed, as under the new rules Junior players don't exhist. This rule is therefore now invalid. As a consequence any Club player from International to Newby from any club team can play in the MW League. The number of Panel Players allowed to participate is only applicable to the Saturday League Championships. The MW Cup eligability rules are laid down on page 107 of the book under clause 3. and my interpretation of this is simply that any player who has played in the SNR Cup either PGL or IBA can't play in the MW Cup,( irrespective of how many teams they have) but those who have played in the Junior Cups PGL or IBA or the IBA Intermediate Cup can. Hope that helps.

Perhaps this needs clarified before the midweek league starts in a couple of weeks otherwise there could be a few Clubs fielding ineligible players on their Midweek Team
Rule 4 states:
"all clubs with two teams in the League Championships must submit to the Honorary League Secretary a panel of a minimum of 8 players who will only be available to play for the club’s “A” team in all PGL League and PGL Cup competitions"
To me that means that the 8 players on the A Team panel can only play A Team bowls - not B Team, not Midweek!!
Bri/Mark, do either of you know?

TeenageKicks; Rule 4 only refers to the Saturday League Championships not the Midweek League. Bri; As I pointed out in the thread "a digraceful situation" the various clauses of Rule 4 in the IBA Yearbook 2015 pages 102/3 and copied onto the new websight imply there is only one panel of a minimum of 8 players to include Internationals and Association players irrespective of however many teams you have in the League Championships. Clubs with only one team dont need a panel Rule 4(a) stipulates where clubs have only 2 teams the panel players can only play in the A team. Rule 4(c) stipulates where clubs have more than 2 teams which in this case only applies to Ballymena who have 3, their panel players can play in their A (Div1) or B (Div3) Teams but not their C team (Div4) Rule 4(d) stipulates where clubs have more than 3 teams which only applies to Belmont with 4 teams their panel players can play in their A B or C teams (ie Divs 1 3 and 4) but not their D (Div5) In the case of Belmont or Ballymena therefore they can play their Internationals and Association or Div 1 players named in their panel in the lower divisions as indicated to the detriment of other clubs in these divs and particularly 2 team clubs in Div 1 the likes of Larne Pickie Dunbaton etc who can't. If the 2 clubs in Rules 4 c and d are supposed to submit a panel for each team it should say so as Rule 4(e) also implies there is only one panel. As it is the set up seems to totally defeat the panel objective.

It looks like it needs sorted ASAP because the 8man panel must be in before the first game next week or you team forfeits 7 points !! So I've heard.

As requested I sought clarification of the Midweek rules when we met to carry out the Championship draws tonight.
The players named in panels will not be eligible to play for Midweek teams.
The rule regarding Junior players is now irrelevant as there is no such thing as a Junior player.
