It may well make sense to you. What if you were doing a great job for a team out of the top 5, how do you get a trial??? Look at the players who have moved to top clubs over the years, is that because they have to, to get a trial?

Having been a team selector at my club for a few years I can see both sides of this debate. Selecting any team has its pitfalls, firstly no two people would agree on any team selection or which club a majority of players are chosen but if you have to play for a top 4 or top 5 club to get in the pal side then this also can have repercussions, players with clubs outside the top echelon may feel that they may have to join the top clubs making other clubs weaker. I think all players with any ambition should be put forward to have a trial by their own club. As results have shown, especially today , that their May be a few hidden gems but most important of all is that everyone from our association backs our lads in the up coming tournament, I'm sure a format can be agreed where a few trials could take place. Come on the lads.

hope the team does well but i do think a few risk should be taken. take for example chris mullen from forth river. won under 25,s last yr. forth river got promoted to snr 1. he has been playing well this yr but because he plays for a team outside of top 5,he only makes reserve.. ?

So what people think of PG performance over the weekend? Looked like selectors may need to make a change or two for next year!!!!

Santa and the guvnor, because the team was selected from the top 5 teams doesn't mean all the best players in the league are from those top 5 teams.if everyone with ambition was to go and join those top 5 where would that leave the clubs that they leave.we all know that there is some very good players in other clubs who don't get a look in, trial etc, I know many good players stay at their own club through loyalty to that club. The pgl league is owned by us the participants of that league there for we should demand that players who are playing well enough get nominated by their clubs for a possible trial, this idea that the best players comes from the top 5 in my eyes is not quiet right. It's up to our clubs to insist on open trials but can't see that happening either.

Maybe the selectors, or one in particular are where it needs to change Santa. It's now well known around the PGL, 1 went elsewhere after an hour of the game on Friday evening. How can he sit and select teams without seeing how anybody played?

That is a disgrace. How can he tell his fellow selectors how everyone on a particular rink or rinks played. Just hope he was not an Irish selector as well!!!!!!
