Bryan you need to check your sums. The Provincial Towns had 9 points going into the last game and if those scores are correct the PGL won 95-90, and got 7 points.

Thanks Brian. Should have checked my typing before posting! Great performance from the boys in blue. I'd say it's a long time since "The Parks" won 3 from 3.

Bryan, Whilst you continue to do sterling work which no doubt is all too often unappreciated I feel that on this occassion you are banging your head off the proverbial brick wall. I reckon a quick survey around the clubs would back up your thoughts that no-one outside those clubs who have representatives have any interest. In fact it would not surprise me to find out that league games had been brought forward to what clubs would assume to be a "free week". This has nothing to do with the stature of the competition but probably more to do with the fact that 99% of the clubs know they will not have anyone picked at this level regardless of their ability and therefore couldn't care less about it. When was the last time a selector actually took in a game not featuring one of the big 4. There is very little if any promotion of the event around the clubs and no incentive to go and watch it. This is no reflection on those players chosen and congratulations to all involved. In all honesty if it wasn't for your dedication most bowlers wouldn't even know their league positions never mind how representative teams fare !!!!!!

Totally agree with gazduke when he rightly stated that pgl selectors should in fact travel around fixtures other than the teams who currently hold a top 4 position they might get a pleasent surprise,if you look at some of the results so far this season there has been some so called shock defeats for some of the teams currently holding a top 4 position, are these results, as some have stated, down to the top team in that fixture not playing up to their usual standards or could it have been, shock horror, the supposedly lower side playing well and getting very little praise.

Selectors play on Saturdays so unless they stop doing that then its only by playing against other clubs can they see who is doing well. I would have spoken to a selector when my club played against his to point out potential prospects. Maybe they could go and watch PG ties and form opinions through them. Don't 4get is each Association that chooses its selectors.

Santa, by your reckoning then a selector will only view a potential player TWICE over a season. There have been players who have won PGL titles and never even got a trial,(Imay be wrong but I think Bryan may fall into that category). In all my years involved with the sport I have never been asked to cast a view/vote on who I think a selector should be as I would imagine that club reps may vote on my behalf. Mind you we also chose our politicians and that's working well !!!!!!!! Selection is a thankless job but maybe just maybe after last weekends performance it's time to cast the net wider and give others a chance.

I can honestly say that I have never seen or heard of any selector attending any games at our club in an official capacity, yes they have played against my club playing on their rink , then how can they see the other 3 rinks playing. Look the time has come for either a few more trials or someone working on the selectors behalf attending games then reporting back to the selectors, all of our associations could hold a tournament on the lines of the inter associations using untried players to see what we have as in done in many other sports this way the selectors could be given a good idea of what we may have, seeing people play under pressure
